Marching Forward with the Freedom School

Freedom School organizers are continuing to set up the school. Members of Occupy Utica are working closely with members from the prisoner justice organization Incarcerated Flavors, the Utica Youth Common Council and other organizations. We are happy to say that we found a home in the Cornerstone Community Church, located in Utica’s Oneida Square. The church has opened its doors to the community at large to a wide range of community, youth, educational, cultural and activist programs and organizations.

We are in the process of establishing a curriculum, setting up classes and a schedule, reaching out to volunteer educators and doing outreach to students. Although our visions and dreams are big, we are starting small with weekly evening classes from. We are projecting to launch the school in February but we need your help.

If you would like to get involved as a volunteer with any aspect of the school, please contact us at 315 732-2382 or We are looking forward to a very exciting Freedom School!
