Please join us at the Freedom School for an exciting reading and discussion group. We will meet this Wednesday, March 19, at 7:00pm at Cornerstone Community Church. Proctor High School student and co-organizer of the Mohawk Valley Freedom School suggested we read the book Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Brazilian literacy educator, scholar, and activist Paulo Freire. Although the book was first published in 1968 it is as relevant and crucial to our understanding of education, and our place in the world as it was in the late 1960s. Freire’s philosophy has shaped the development of a number of Freedom School projects today.  Are you interested in joining us? If so, please contact Brendan at maslauskas84@gmail.com or call (315) 732-2382. If you can, you are encouraged to read the Forward and Introduction (up to page 40). Finally, here is some information from the website dedicated to the book.
